{From mama with love} Tiny woodland friends

Continua la carrellata di lavoretti e angoli che decorano la stanza della mia bimba, Adele. Oggi é il turno della giostrina da culla. I soggetti non potevano che essere gli animaletti del bosco dato che é un pó tutto il tema della stanza.

Today I'll keep on sharing some corners and handmade items that decorate my little girl Adele's room. In today post it's time to share her cot mobile. The little characters could only be cute little woodland creatures, as that is more or less the whole room's theme.

Avrei voluto crearla mentre lei era ancora nel pancione e fargliela trovata appena nata in una cameretta tutta decorata e pronta ad accoglierla, ma ehmm.... diciamo che la mente lavora molto piú velocemente delle mani e quindi non é andata proprio cosí! Per fortuna i primi sei mesi ha comunque dormito in stanza con noi, quindi ho avuto tutto il tempo di decorarle ogni angolino inclusa questa giostrina.

I would have loved to have it ready while she was still in my bump and to have a fully decorated and very welcoming room for her when she was born, but... well... let's say that my mind definitely works way faster than my hands do, so that definitely didn't happen! Luckily during the first six months she slept in our bedroom anyway, so I had all the time to decorate every corner.

Gli animaletti sono nati dalle mia mente e dal mio cuore, e sono stati poi cuciti a mano pian pianino, durante i primi mesi, mentre lei faceva brevi pisolini, o mentre la tenevo cuore e cuore sulla fascia con me.

The little characters were born from my mind and my heart and were then stitched by hand, slowly, during the first few months of her life... while she was having quick naps or while she was nestling  on me heart to heart inside the sling.

L'intelaiatura in legno é stato un acquisto diciamo un pó avventato, perché alla fine, bella é bella, ma l'avevo trovata su ebay, e arrivava da fuori UK, mi pare da Bulgaria, e tra spedizione e cambio valuta é costata davvero una follia.. ma me ne sono resa conto solo dopo che l'ho acquistata e ho fatto i conti ;) beh ormai é fatta. Un'alternativa molto piu economica (anche se magari meno bella, dato che io adoro il legno) sarebbe stata acquistare una giostrina giá pronta di plastica bianca (magari anche munita di carillon se lo si desidera) e sostituire i soggetti con i miei animaletti. O ancora, un' altra bella alternativa che ho visto spesso in giro quando cercavo ispirazioni, é di  usare semplicemente un telaietto rotondo da ricamo (tante idee qui), su cui far pendere i vari decori/animali e appenderla poi con fili trasparenti direttamente al soffitto.

The wooden frame was quite a impetuous purchase, as, it definitely is quite pretty, but I had found it on ebay, it was from outside the UK, I think Bulgaria possibly, and between shipping and currency exchange, the price ended up really high... but I only realised that after I had already bought it so never mind ;) what's done is done. A cheaper alternative (although probably less pretty, especially since I love wood a lot) would have been to buy a ready made cot mobile from a shop, with a plastic frame and replace its ornaments with mine. Or another even cheaper alternative, would have been, as I had often seen in pictures around the web, to simply use a round embroidery hoop (many ideas here), to hang on the ceiling with some clear string.
